I was sorting out my files and I found some old pictures that I thought might be interesting for those who want a look. I say old, I really mean they were taken just over a year ago, but that’s a long time in computing.
Anyway, here come the pictures, ladies and gentlemen, I give you the very first LSUCS LAN Party!
In other news, I finally got around to upgrading to WordPress 2.0.2, not all that much different really, except that the Admin panel is less good. And unfortunately the up-to-date Tiger Style Administration plugin, isn’t as good as the old one. To be honest I’m not sure whether it’s just WordPress or the plugin that’s to blame, so I’m going to blame both of them. Guilty until proven innocent, just like suspected terrorists!
There are a few annoying “helpful” JavaScripts dotted around everywhere and they suck and have bugs in. Also, most of my screen area is completely wasted because it looks as though the layout was designed for a lower resolution and not designed to scale up at all. Also, instead of a nice textarea to type in, I now have some kind of rich content editing field, oh my God it’s crap, it lags so badly behind me when I’m typing. Sometimes I change my mind about a sentence and hold down the backspace key to delete it, but when I let go of the key, it starts deleting the stuff I want to keep because of the lag!
If these things end up bugging me enough, (and I sense that they might), I may have a go at fixing them myself, either through modifying the plugin or just hacking into WordPress, depending on which one is to blame for all these atrocities.
This funny textarea? The one with buttons that have no pictures above them? Or is that just in Konqueror…
Nice set of pictures/captions. The guy you don’t know is called Gribbs! You must have been really bored to come up with a caption for almost all of those pictures though!
No, not this textarea, I mean the one in the WordPress admin panel. This textarea is fine, and there’s some handy JavaScript that hides the rest of the form if you’ve made a comment before and have a cookie with the data in. In the admin panel it’s almost as if the JavaScript has been written to get in the way.
And yeah, I did have some free time on my hands, I wrote alternate text for the images too.
yea, i had some troubles with the new fancy pants editor when i upgraded to wordpress 2. I like to post flash sometimes and it completely butchered the object/embed tags
heres the quick fix: go to /wp-admin/profile.php and uncheck the “Use the visual rich editor when writing” box at the bottom.
Yeah, I spotted it the other day when I accidentally clicked on, “Users” instead of “Plugins” in the admin panel. I much prefer the default textarea to that bloated RTE, with that said though, I did like how I could resize it using the mouse.
